Job Purpose

  • The role is in overseeing and optimizing all aspects of manufacturing and fabrication, with a focus on safe, efficient delivery coordinating fabrication shop activities, procurement activities, managing welders including field teams, facilitating training programs, and overseeing all fabrication and manufacturing related processes.

  • General Manager

  • Operations Manager, Projects Team and QHSE

External Relationships

  • Clients, Vendors, Stakeholders

Directly Supervises

  • Production Team, QC Team and Fabrication Shop Teams
Main Responsibilities
Fabrication Shop Management
  • Oversee day-to-day activities in the fabrication shop, including manpower scheduling / shift allocation, production scheduling and general shop management.
  • Take overall responsibility for, implement and constantly improve procedures, work instructions and forms related to fabrication.
  • Review, propose, implement and support fabrication shop equipment, including future capabilities.
  • Manage welding manpower levels, including sub‑contractors and resource allocation to support field welding activities.
Production Team Management
  • Manage and coordinate production team including procurement and sub‑contracting activities.
  • Monitor procurement activities to ensure adherence to project and fabrication timelines and quality standards.
  • Implement strategies to optimize productivity, performance and cost.
QC Team Management
  • Manage and coordinate QC team including inspection and sub‑contract related activities (such as PWHT, NDE).
  • Take overall responsibility for implementing and constantly improving procedures, work instructions and forms related to quality control, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Training & Development
  • Develop and execute training and certification programs for fabrication shop, Production Team and QC team to enhance technical skills and abilities.
  • Assess training needs and create a continuous learning environment to improve team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with General Manager and HR to identify and address skill gaps through targeted training initiatives and hiring.
Performance Analysis and Reporting
  • Identify, develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate the performance of fabrication shop, procurement and quality control.
  • Generate regular reports on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation, including manpower, equipment and materials to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to forecast resource and fabrication requirements for upcoming projects.
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities
  • To comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
  • Ensure all accidents / incidents / near misses / hazards are immediately reported and relevant paperwork is complete.

  • Prior management or manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • Technical competencies in manufacturing (technical drawings, blueprints, CAD/CAM).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other industry software.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s in business administration, industrial management, engineering, or other related field.
  • A strong understanding of how businesses and manufacturing processes work is required.
