Responsibilities

The Paper Mill Process Engineer provides technical and process support to operations and leads process improvement activities for a designated tissue machine. This role focuses on safety, quality, productivity, cost efficiency, waste reduction, and process reliability. Deliver technical support in process control, system analysis, centerlining, and operational leadership while promoting a safety‑first culture. Collaborate across departments (Converting, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics) and maintain strong relationships with OEM technicians for technical support. Identify and resolve complex technical, quality, or safety issues; troubleshoot equipment and implement operational standards to drive continuous improvement. Lead process optimization and improvement projects, including small to medium capital projects, ensuring timely and cost‑effective completion. Monitor and analyze paper mill processes, equipment capabilities, and key predictive indicators; use data insights to inform decisions and improvements. Support product development initiatives to enhance quality and performance; assist with planning, installation, and start‑up of new equipment. Actively contribute to innovation and site improvement initiatives "Find a better way every day" while upholding professional and ethical conduct.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical/Industrial, Pulp and Paper Engineering or Environmental Science.
  • 2 to 7 years in a manufacturing environment including involvement in business improvement projects.
  • Experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical & Instrumentation is an asset.
  • Experience with AVEVA PI Systems or Parcview is an asset.
  • Experience with lean management initiatives is an asset.
  • Previous experience in the paper industry is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, managing competing priorities and changing conditions.
