Manager, Partner Programs

What we are looking for: Northern Development Initiative Trust is seeking a collaborative, high-performing professional to administer a range of funding programs. Based in Prince George, the Manager, Partner Programs reports to the Senior Director, Economic Development and Programming, and is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of funding programs available to municipalities, regional districts, First Nations, non-profit organizations, and businesses in Northern Development’s service area. This involves coordinating project application intakes, liaising with project proponents, consultants, and industry stakeholders, and entering all application data into Northern Development’s project database in a timely and accurate manner for assessment and funding recommendations as well as managing open projects through completion of reporting and disbursement of grant funding. Our team is looking for a candidate who is passionate about Northern B.C. and the communities we serve, is driven to succeed and can creatively build alliances and partnerships to support new initiatives that economic development in the region. Primary Responsibilities: Priorities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating granting programs application intake process, which includes application review, verifying eligibility, editing, liaising with applicants, completing due diligence reports, ensuring decision letters are issued and annual reporting forms are completed.
  • Day-to-day oversight and operations for assigned partner programs.
  • Entering all application data into Northern Development’s project database in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain electronic application files as required.
  • Work in collaboration with Communication team members to identify opportunities to celebrate project milestones.
  • Work with a variety of stakeholders and industry organizations to raise awareness and programs across to eligible communities and applicants throughout the Northern Development service region.
  • Monitor best practices in grant management. This includes conducting basic research, planning, and gathering information to assist in annual performance review of Northern Development’s funding programs.
  • Monitor community trends and identify potential impacts and opportunities aligned with the Trust’s partner programs.
  • Works with a variety of funding tools to perform searches for opportunities to leverage funding requests, or to provide funding options where Northern Development programs may not align with project objectives.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with Trust staff, local and regional governments, First Nations, not-for-profit groups, provincial and federal agencies, private organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Work with the program colleagues to identify co-funding opportunities, and opportunities to align programming and raise program awareness throughout the region.
  • Review project and financial reporting submitted by proponents, maintain tracking tool for reporting, and liaise with proponents to obtain missing information.
  • Track reporting deadlines and ensure accountability.
  • Record project approvals in database and reconciliation(s).
  • Maintain tracking tool for approved projects in relation to contract development; track outstanding contracts and follow up with proponents.
  • Work with Director, Finance on monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as needed.
  • Contribute to the completion of Northern Development work plan performance targets.

Education and Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to build relationships and effectively communicate with diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to successfully meet deadlines while managing multiple projects, tasks, and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated financial literacy – the ability to read and understand financial statements, project budgeting and funding models.
  • Understanding of the business environment in Central and Northern B.C.; and the ability to discuss issues, challenges, and opportunities with businesses owners.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Highly motivated and self-sufficient with ability to work successfully under pressure and in a high performing team environment.
  • Demonstrated financial literacy – the ability to read and understand financial statements, project budgeting and funding models.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs and experience working in database applications.
  • Adept at maintaining confidential information; demonstrates tact, diplomacy and discretion at all times.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the economy in central and northern B.C. and the communities within the Trust’s service area.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or evening work when preparing for board meetings, conferences and special events
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements which includes a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check.

Established by the Province of B.C. in 2005 with an initial capital infusion of $185 million, the Trust is an independent corporation that serves 137 local and First Nation communities throughout central and northern B.C. and has found more than 6,000 ways to get to ‘yes’ on economic development projects in the past 20 years. Today, the Trust is sustainably managed and grants between $12 and $14 million of funding to support community economic development priorities throughout the region each year.
