Position Overview

The Mechanical Contractor Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, leading a small but skilled team, and driving business performance. This is a hands-on role that combines technical mechanical knowledge with business management responsibilities. The successful candidate will have the entrepreneurial mindset required to manage and grow a boutique contracting firm while ensuring projects are executed with excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily business operations including project planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Lead, support, and mentor field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.
  • Prepare, review, and oversee bids, estimates, and contracts.
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability targets.
  • Ensure all projects comply with safety regulations, codes, and industry standards.
  • Implement operational processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to grow client base and service offerings.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical field or Construction Management, or a relate discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Red Seal or Journeyperson certification in a mechanical trade is an asset.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical contracting, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Proven project management ability with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client service skills.
  • General financial acumen, with prior responsibility for budgets or P&L preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial approach with the ability to thrive in a smaller, growth-focused business.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as required.
