SmartSkin serves the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies and all major beverage brands with its patented and award-winning Quantifeel™ sensor and software solutions. While most of our engineering and production activities are undertaken in New Brunswick, Canada, our global presence is increasing with team members located in major centers in North America and Europe.

The Manager, Marketing Communications, plays a key leadership role within the Marketing Department, responsible for shaping the firm’s public image, strengthening brand visibility, and managing all aspects of external communications and content. This role will oversee the development and execution of strategic communication plans that support corporate goals, product launches, thought leadership initiatives, and stakeholder engagement.

The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands‑on execution — someone who can craft compelling narratives about complex technology, foster relationships, and ensure brand alignment across all channels and all forms of media.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and public relations strategy aligned with the company’s business and marketing objectives.
  • Ensure rigorous, company-wide consistency of brand identity, voice, and standards across all assets and communication channels.
  • Partner with executive leadership and product teams to craft key messaging for announcements, partnerships, and company milestones.
  • Advise leadership on reputation management, media engagement, and communication best practices.
Content & Brand Storytelling
  • Oversee creation of high‑quality content including thought leadership articles, blogs, case studies, white papers, presentations, and executive messaging.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing and creative teams to ensure alignment between PR content, digital marketing, and social media strategies.
  • Lead messaging for product launches, campaigns, and events to maximize awareness and engagement.
Public Relations & Media Relations
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with technology, business, and industry media outlets.
  • Draft press releases, media kits, backgrounders, and statements for corporate announcements.
  • Coordinate and support leadership representation at press conferences and speaking opportunities.
  • Monitor media coverage, share of voice and sentiment, preparing regular reports and analysis to measure PR impact and inform strategy.
Digital & Social Communications
  • Manage the company’s social media strategy as it relates to PR, brand awareness, and thought leadership.
  • Oversee responses to public inquiries and media questions across digital platforms.
  • Partner with the digital marketing team to amplify earned media and measure content reach and engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or brand management — ideally within the technology or innovation sector.
  • Proven success in developing and executing media relations that drive measurable results.
  • Strong media network and experience working with trade and technology press.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into compelling narratives.
  • Experience partnering with agencies, freelancers, or contractors.
  • Solid understanding of digital communications tools, analytics, and social media management platforms.
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with executives, marketing, sales and technical teams in a fast‑paced environment.
  • While this role offers some flexibility, regular in‑person collaboration at our Fredericton, NB head office is preferred.
Core Competencies
  • Strategic and creative thinker with strong business acumen.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship management and media relations expertise.
  • Highly adaptable, proactive, and resilient under pressure.
  • Data‑driven mindset, focused on outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills.
