Overview

The Manager will be responsible for leading and supporting a high performing team of analysts on the Market Intelligence & Analytics team. The team is a key partner to the Institutional Distribution team, supporting the global growth and retention objectives of the firm by providing best-in-class research and analytics. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, contributing to team projects, coaching individual contributors, fostering professional development and driving a positive, inclusive team culture aligned with TD's organizational values and goals.

This role offers exposure to, and interaction with, several key stakeholders including Relationship Managers, Client Portfolio Managers, Strategy and Sales Enablement, while offering unparalleled exposure within an industry-leading global investment management firm. The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated individual with people management experience, data analytics and/or research experience, a background in the asset management industry, strong communication skills, a strategic big picture thinker and has a desire to drive outcomes for our institutional asset management business.

Accountabilities
  • People Management: Lead, motivate and develop a high performing team to ensure delivery of high-quality work on time and within scope; consult and collaborate with senior leadership to align team goals with broader institutional business objectives; identify development needs and create opportunities for team growth; conduct regular 1-on-1s and performance reviews and maintain an ongoing feedback loop; foster an inclusive and engaging work environment; support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training; identify areas for team improvement and manage resources, workflows and processes to maximize efficiency; ensure adherence to firm policies, procedures and risk appetite; champion employee well-being and work-life balance; drive project ideation to deliver high-impact initiatives; participate in key strategic projects as requested by senior leadership.
  • Research & Sales Support: Produce competitor intelligence reports, support sales objectives in B2B contexts, and conduct market research by theme or segment to size market potential, identify trends and key participants.
  • Data Analytics: Use internal and external datasets with Excel to consolidate and clean data for analysis; perform investment fund performance analysis and competitive positioning; create Salesforce reports to assess client and prospect characteristics and segmentation.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in finance, economics, marketing or related business fields.
  • 5+ years of related experience; experience with an Institutional Asset Management firm or an Investment Consultant firm is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing a team with a strong track record of coaching and developing talent.
  • Strong analytical background; ability to coach and apply analytical skills.
  • Enrolment in, or completion of, the Chartered Financial Analyst designation is an asset.
  • Familiar with public and private market asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, Alternatives & Multi-Asset solutions.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and the asset management industry; understanding of institutional client segments such as pension funds and endowments.
  • Experience in completing secondary research, market research or competitive intelligence reports; experience with data visualization / business intelligence.
  • Peer group investment fund analysis experience is an asset; strong collaboration and relationship-management skills; ability to work across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, problem solving, and ability to handle ambiguity; excellent verbal and written communication skills; results-oriented with strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Desire to continuously learn and improve, particularly in asset management and investment knowledge.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Advanced), Word, PowerPoint & Co-Pilot; experience or familiarity with Salesforce, eVestment or Morningstar Direct is an asset; experience with Python or Tableau is an asset.
  • 4 Days in the office required.
