The Environment Manager is a key role responsible for ensuring the construction project meets compliance with environmental acts, regulations, procedures and client requirements. The Environment Manager works with project personnel to develop, implement and maintain an environmental management system at the project level, including procedures, programs and monitoring of environmental aspects to meet project requirements.

What You’ll Do Here
  • Under the direction of the Environmental Director, define authority for day-to-day implementation of the Environmental Management System and auditing / reporting its performance.
  • Manage all environmental issues on the Project day-to-day, including overseeing the environmental monitoring program.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with relevant Environmental Authorities and Interested Parties.
  • Ensure effective operation of the Environmental Management Plans and Environmental Protection Plans on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure environmental issues and requirements are met in accordance with the Project Agreement.
  • Provide direction, support and leadership to the project team on environmental regulations, permits and requirements.
  • Develop, implement and maintain an effective health and environmental management system for the project, in conformance with ISO 14001 standard requirements.
  • Support the Environmental Director in preparing and submitting applications for environmental permits, and their management.
  • Oversee the environmental aspects of the project design.
  • Work closely with the Technical Services team to ensure environmental aspects are addressed and project schedules are met.
  • Coordinate with environmental sub-contractors to provide specialty input and direction, if sub-contractors are necessary.
  • Analyze trends to assist in environmental protection and compliance.
  • Develop new and revised environmental practices and procedures as required.
  • Provide environmental training and support where required.
  • Participate in and / or provide direction to others conducting environmental considerations, review site needs, and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance and knowledge.
  • Compile quarterly and annual reports to update ongoing environmental processes and address current issues.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective actions and program improvements.
  • Work with client representatives to resolve identified issues and opportunities.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and implement environmental programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all related environmental activities; identify and manage risks; verify and monitor training requirements.
  • Implement an environmental audit program and prepare improvement plans and corrective actions based on findings.
What You Bring To The Team
  • 5 years of construction industry experience in a management / supervisory position.
  • 10 years of practical environmental management experience.
  • Qualified Environmental Professional required.
  • B.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
