Job description
  • Lead, plan, and coordinate daily maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime, reliability, and compliance with production schedules.
  • Supervise and support Maintenance Technicians in performing troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assign work orders, prioritize maintenance activities, and ensure accurate documentation through the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Monitor the performance of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensuring completion, accuracy, and effectiveness.
  • Participate in and lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment failures; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve maintenance issues that impact product quality, throughput, or safety.
  • Manage daily manpower, shift coverage, and maintenance scheduling to support 24/7 operations, ensuring effective communication during shift handovers.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development for maintenance personnel, ensuring all trades maintain the required certifications and technical competencies.
  • Maintain compliance with all corporate and legislative safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and electrical safety.
  • Support capital and continuous improvement projects by coordinating maintenance resources, providing technical input, and assisting in commissioning new equipment.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory, work with Procurement and Engineering to ensure critical spares are available and optimize inventory through preventive planning.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), job plans, and equipment documentation to promote consistency and reliability.
  • Participate in long-term maintenance planning, cost control, and departmental budgeting.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and open communication within the Maintenance Department and across functional areas.

Qualifications Required:
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering; or equivalent combination of technical education and supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a high-volume, 24/7 or multi-shift manufacturing environment.
  • Proven background in both mechanical and electrical maintenance systems (PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, HVAC, conveyors, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success managing preventive maintenance programs and CMMS utilization (Emaint, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of TPM, RCM, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills with the ability to motivate skilled trades teams.
  • Commitment to health and safety excellence and compliance with Ontario legislation and NSG policies.
Qualifications Desired:
  • Red Seal or Licensed Trade certification (Millwright, Electrician, or equivalent) considered an asset.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.
  • Experience with capital project coordination and equipment commissioning.
