Job description
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop logistics processes to support efficient supply chain operations for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), as part of Wärtsilä's Energy Storage & Optimization (ES&O) business.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments of finished goods from production facilities primarily in China to ports and customers across the Asian region, ensuring timely transportation and adherence to delivery schedules.
  • Support inbound logistics when needed, including coordination of component deliveries to contract manufacturers.
  • Monitor and ensure the smooth flow of delivery schedules, documentation, and transportation throughout the supply chain.
  • Manage export processes including loading, documentation, customs clearance, transport bookings, and vessel loading.
  • Maintain and update delivery data in Wärtsilä's internal systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Wärtsilä's logistics, production planning, procurement, quality, and project teams, as well as external logistics partners and suppliers.
  • Actively contribute to the development and optimization of logistics processes and tools, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Requirements and Desired Skills
  • Relevant higher education degree (e.g., Bachelor's or Master's in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or equivalent).
  • Several years of experience in logistics or supply chain operations, preferably within internal Asian supply chains and international project environments.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms, port operations, export/import documentation, and customs procedures is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively, with a development-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Chinese language skills are a plus.
  • Solid IT skills and ability to work with logistics systems.
  • Attention to quality standards and project-specific delivery timelines.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods (DG) transportation requirements is considered an asset.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Willingness to travel within the Asian region when required.
