Wage/Salary Range: $30 to $45
Shift Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off - flights from Edmonton.

Job Overview

GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Light Equipment Operator / Labourer to join our valued client’s team at a remote mine site in Nunavut. This is a full‑time contract position, ideally suited to an individual committed to excellence and safety. Personnel in this role will work under direct client supervision and must adhere to all site‑specific safety standards, procedures, and protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Operate light‑duty equipment, including skid steers, telehandlers, and pickup trucks with trailers.
  • Conduct rigging and supervised material‑handling tasks.
  • Perform equipment walkarounds and report defects or hazards.
  • Organize and move materials within laydown yards and support container yard operations.
  • Perform loading, unloading, freight movement, snow removal, housekeeping, and general labour duties.
  • Assist with minor carpentry tasks and basic site maintenance.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, orientations, and safety meetings.
  • Follow site safety regulations, cold‑weather protocols, and hazard controls.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Complete timesheets accurately and maintain required certifications and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Certification or demonstrated competency in skid steer, telehandler, and aerial work platform (if required).
  • Experience operating pickup trucks and backing trailers.
  • CSTS 2020 or equivalent construction safety certification.
  • Ability to work safely in remote Arctic conditions and complete 12‑hour shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mining, industrial, or remote northern environments.
  • Rigging certification or demonstrated rigging experience.
  • Background in freight, logistics, or staging operations.
  • Familiarity working with northern or Indigenous workforce settings.
Work Environment
  • Remote Arctic mine site with fly‑in fly‑out 14/14 rotation.
  • 12‑hour shifts in extreme weather conditions.
  • Travel may occur via Edmonton, Yellowknife, Cambridge Bay, or Gjoa Haven.
  • Camp accommodations provided.
  • PPE and winter gear supplied by GrizzlyTrek; operational equipment provided by the client.
