Overview

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Acute Ward / Emergency Department at Centre médico-social DeSalaberry District Health Centre. Employment type: Permanent, 0.7 FTE, in person. Daily hours: 7.75. Anticipated shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends. Salary: As per MNU Collective Agreement. Posting contact details and requisition information are provided for internal reference.

Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) applies the nursing process to support clients/residents/patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health within a people-centred care approach. The LPN works to the full scope of practice and maintains competency in line with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba Code of Ethics, and the Regulated Health Professions Act. The incumbent exercises appropriate initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and actions in consultation with organizational policies and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care within Acute, Transitional, Personal Care Home (PCH), Primary Care, Public Health–Healthy Living and/or Home Care settings as required.
  • Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality services.
  • Maintain professional standards and ongoing education to ensure competency and compliance with regulatory bodies.
Education and Certification
  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing education program.
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) certification.
