Library Technician - Casual Part Time

Status: Casual Part Time

Hours: Up to 24 hours/week

Home Campus: Fennell (travel to other campuses required)

Rate of Pay: $17.60/hour

Job Summary

The incumbent supports in any one of the campus Library locations. This position is a point of contact for library users who access library facilities, systems, and services. The incumbent provides a high level of user service in-person, by phone, via email, and online chat including:

  • Library and information services such as circulation; reference; information literacy; and orientation to library services, research databases, online library catalogue and various associated resources.
  • Library operational support such as preparing and processing resource materials; collecting, tracking and gather statistics for analysis.

Incumbent is required to work shifts, including a combination of early shifts and late shifts to support Library services operating hours.

What you’ll be doing:
Circulation Desk including Reference Services
  • Provide service delivery at the Circulation Desk including Reference Services for Mohawk College students, faculty, staff and the community which involves interviewing, interpreting requirements, and establishing level and detail of information required.
  • Guide library users in the inquiry and research process.
  • Guide academic integrity practices through citation and reference support.
  • Provide reference services in-person, by phone, via email, and online chat.
  • Provide circulation services using the integrated library system.
Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in library projects as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that align to the Library and the College’s strategic mandate.
What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Two-year Library Technician Diploma.
  • Previous Library experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
