We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive the design and delivery of an e-trading platform with our First Derivative team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in building high-performance trading systems, working closely with trading desks and quants, and leading teams to deliver incremental business value.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with e-trading desks to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions

  • Lead and organize development and business analysis teams to deliver business objectives efficiently

  • Architect and guide the build of highly performant, scalable, and maintainable e-trading solutions

  • Contribute hands-on to Java development while mentoring and setting technical direction

  • Integrate market data, messaging, and trading workflows into the platform

  • Build strong relationships with traders, quants, and stakeholders on the trading floor

Requirements

  • Proven experience building e-trading platforms (ideally in Treasuries, Bonds, or Swaps)

  • Experience with Excel integration, market data feeds, and streaming message buses (e.g., Solace)

  • Deep understanding of electronic trading workflows and trade floor environments

  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance architecture, delivery, and mentorship

  • Proficient working knowledge of Java, Springboot, microservices, and messaging protocols (SBE/UDP/Protobuff)

  • Previous experience liaising directly with trading desks and quants

  • Ability to drive small, incremental, high-impact deliverables over time
