The APL Mobile Collections department is seeking skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Assistants to join our team. Mobile MLAs visit patients in long term care facilities and personal residences across mobile service areas. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification. Valid class 5 drivers’ license with a drivers abstract satisfactory to APL. Ability to lift to 10 lbs on a frequent basis. Ability to work independently within a team environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client services and public relations. Ability to perform repetitive duties efficiently and accurately. Ability to recognize and assist patients in distress. Flexibility to meet operational requirements including hours and location of work. Proficiency in data entry.
At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. ECG experience. Previous experience in a mobile collection environment. Working knowledge of Connect Care and MCIS. Excellent organizational, problem solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism. Leadership, customer service or change management courses.
