A leading healthcare education provider in Metro Vancouver is looking for a Lab Assistant to help maintain organization during live events. The ideal candidate would have a college degree in a science-related field, along with 1-2 years of lab experience. Responsibilities include ensuring all equipment is clean and ready, assisting facilitators, and addressing queries. This part-time role requires excellent communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Salary is $25.00/hour.

Job description

The primary goal of the Lab Assistant is to assist in upholding organization of the laboratory during live events.

The schedule is on occasional weekends Friday to Sunday at a salary of $25.00/hour.

Opportunity
  • Ensure that all facilitators and participants have all equipment at each workstation and cleanrooms
  • Wash all equipment and ensure it is ready for the next person to use prior to the course and during the onsite programs
  • Act as the secondary point of contact for resolving laboratory related issues during the onsite programs
  • Responsible for cleaning and taking down of lab post training programs with guidance from the Training Facility Coordinator
Course Process Facilitation and Client Relations
  • Greet attendees and facilitators for onsite programs and training
  • Act as a point of contact for facilitators, addressing inquiries and provide assistance as needed
  • Workdays will include weekends throughout the year when the lab is hosting trainings and events
Qualifications
  • College degree in a Science related field
  • One (1) to two (2) years’ experience in a lab setting
  • Excellent communication skills; English (oral & written) required
  • Ability to prepare and organize laboratory and demonstration materials
  • Strong listening skills, very customer focused and professional
  • Proven abilities to apply good judgement, ethical practice and decision making skills
  • Detail oriented, ability to apply analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Able to assess priorities and act according to the task
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Teams and Excel) required
