Qualifications

Essential Functions

The candidate will work in the Halifax Avionics Systems Engineering (AVSE) section for the military CP‑140 Aurora and other military platforms. The candidate will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

  • Perform Engineering trade studies on existing and new product technologies;
  • Translate requests of the customer into system level requirements;
  • Write subsystem specifications to subcontractors based on system level requirements;
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design;
  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements;
  • Integrate and test, avionics and military systems;
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals;
  • Develop experience managing and implementing software and system test plans in a team environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Avionics, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent);
  • 0–2 years of prior related experience (entry-level);
  • Familiarity with avionics systems and standards (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, DO-178, DO-254);
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office tools;
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288:2008 is a major asset;
  • Knowledge of MBSE SysML is a major asset.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
