Qualifications

Job description

As a Junior Indirect Tax Analyst, you will be part of a team responsible for Indirect Tax compliance in various jurisdictions. Your goal will be to work with other members of the Indirect Tax Team to remit appropriate taxes to respective jurisdictions, including filing timely, accurate returns and interacting with jurisdictional tax authorities to resolve queries on indirect tax compliance issues. Your success will be measured by your active role in company growth through your intimate knowledge of your assigned tax jurisdiction, and your ability to interact effectively with customers, team members, and other members of the company to meet our goals and objectives.

Kindly note this role is a fixed term role with an expected duration of 18 months.

Your Responsibilities
  • Prepare indirect tax returns (excise, fuel, and sales tax) for assigned federal, state, and provincial jurisdictions
  • Research and understand Canadian, U.S. and/or European fuel and sales tax legislations
  • Investigate, review, and assist in resolving indirect tax issues
  • Prepare monthly indirect tax account reconciliations and responsible for timely and accurate tax payments
  • Provide information and analysis to address audit queries pertaining to reporting issues with motor fuel and sales tax audits
  • Research and provide responses to queries from other parts of the company and legislative jurisdictions
  • Assist with indirect tax assessment rebuttal initiatives and related analysis and investigation
  • Support other indirect tax compliance projects and work with the business on other projects or new requests or developments
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager
Your Skills

  • Good analytical skills and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Your Experience
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
  • 1-3 years of experience in tax or accounting
  • CPA or CFA designation and completion of CPA GST/HST tax course an asset
