Job summary

A healthcare service provider in Northwestern Ontario is looking for a casual Janitor/Handy Person. Responsibilities include following maintenance programs, performing repairs, and ensuring safety practices are upheld. The ideal candidate should have mechanical aptitude and experience in electrical and plumbing work. A high school diploma is required, and a college-level trade certificate is an asset. Job description

Home: Southbridge Roseview
Location: Thunder Bay, ON
Position: Janitor/Handy Person, Casual, 7am-3pm

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to read and write in English.
• Experience in electrical, plumbing, patchwork, painting preferred.
• Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
• Knowledgeable about WHMIS, OH & S.
• High School Diploma.
• College level trade certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Follow the home’s Preventive Maintenance Program as well as the Demand Maintenance Program.
• Regularly perform the tasks described in the programs.
• Check completed maintenance logs in each department/home area of the home.
• Complete repairs as necessary, including but not limited to painting, wall repair, small leaks, installing toilet, sink, tiling, doors, replacing light fixtures, installing blinds.
• Check the operation of the mechanical equipment.
• Inspect life safety equipment and systems.
• Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment.
• Complete regular maintenance reports.
• Complete pre‑start‑up assessments on new equipment as applicable.
• Coordinate annual preventive maintenance checks by contractors.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Must be available for call‑ins on short notice.
• Perform all maintenance work, including heavy‑duty tasks.
