A leading recruitment firm in York Region is seeking a Cost Analyst who will be responsible for analyzing costs and providing insights that drive financial decision-making. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment and proficiency in SAP. This position requires strong analytical skills and a University degree or equivalent experience. The role is on-site 5 days per week and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Full job description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing costs and providing insights that drive financial decision-making within the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts, accounting principles, and proficiency in various accounting software. The Cost Analyst will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance. Must have SAP, for data collection and reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations to communicate findings to management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data for budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist in cash flow analysis to ensure financial stability.
  • Perform account reconciliations including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Analyze accounts payable and accounts receivable to optimize cash management.
  • Utilize ERP systems and accounting software such as SAP, for data collection and reporting.
  • Analyzing changes in COGS due to product design, raw materials, operational/manufacturing methods, to determine effects on cost
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and cash flow analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP.
  • Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Must have a strong Cost systems background, have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • University Degree or College Diploma and Actively pursuing CMA / CGA Designation, or equivalent experience.
