This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position
Serves as an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Architect (Project Engineer) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York Construction Division, New York District.
Duties
- Responsible for thorough implementation of the government Quality Assurance program.
- Ascertain the effectiveness of contractor’s quality control systems, including attendance at preparatory, initial and follow up inspections.
- Reviews and manages design submittals, performing reviews and coordinating with customers.
- Performs construction tasks for the District’s environmntal and civil works projects.
- Obtain timely and cost effective projects through contract administration in accordance with contract requirements.
- Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted by contractors, installation personnel and using agencies for changes to plans.
- Maintain familiarity with contract requirements and monitor funds available.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a financial disclosure upon entry and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- This position requires the incumbent to work outdoors in all weather, including extreme temperatures and to potentially hazardous job sites.
- This position requires the incumbent to pass a Hazardous Toxic and Radiological Waste physical examination, if required.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Contracting Officer’s Representative credential within one year of appointment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 20% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
