Insurance Defence Law Clerk

Salary: Up to $85K+

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing file materials and assisting in drafting assessments.
  • Initiating the organization of and managing files or parts of files, including requesting, indexing, and organizing documentary productions.
  • Assisting the Firm’s lawyers with drafting pleadings, document production, drafting motions, mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs and preparing for hearings and trials ensuring that all parties are served.
  • Reviewing and summarizing transcripts of examinations for discovery for undertakings, refusals, and assembly of answers to undertakings.
  • Corresponding with all counsel to ensure that all productions are received including liability productions from co-defendants and damage productions from plaintiffs.
  • Providing support on matters related to professional negligence, product liability, motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls claims.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and act as liaison between the client and lawyer for day-to-day matters.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working on Defence files.
  • Confidential nature with a professional attitude.
  • Works well independently and within a team.
  • Solid understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
