Job description
Installation Engineering Specialist

Date: 29 Sept 2025

Location: Toronto, ON, CA

Company: Alstom

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Installation Engineering Specialist in Toronto, ON we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a transformative project. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, innovative, and detail-oriented team of professionals.

You'll play a pivotal role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada's busiest public transit system by contributing to the On-Corridor Works project as part of the ONxpress consortium. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (design, site operations, and subcontractors), ensure quality installation designs, and support the successful delivery of engineering activities and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of installation engineering studies, site inspections, and technical reviews, but also manage progress reporting and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Delivering engineering studies, including Bill of Installation Materials/Quantities, Method Statements, and Installation Drawings.
  • Assessing progress reports and generating internal action plans to address challenges.
  • Reviewing and signing off on installation designs, including drawings and method statements.
  • Managing installation tools and ensuring regular inspections and calibration.
  • Conducting site surveys to identify potential constraints and reporting them to the design team.
  • Ensuring “as built” and “as installed” documentation is completed before revenue service.
All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics
  • Certified in AutoCAD and/or other design tools (desirable)
  • P.Eng certification or in progress (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of railway products and services across different market segments (Urban, Mainline, Freight, and Product).
  • 5+ years of experience in design, drafting, or engineering production.
  • Familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards (desired).
  • Proficiency in BIM, AutoCAD, or MicroStation to create/modify 2D drawings (an asset).
  • Experience in managing projects with Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in office and field environments under seasonal conditions, adhering to safety rules.
  • Occasional international travel flexibility.
Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from monotonous routines.
  • Work with cutting-edge security standards for rail signalling.
  • Collaborate with diverse and supportive colleagues across teams.
  • Contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of mobility.
  • Utilise our flexible and collaborative working environment.
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.
  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning programs.
  • Progress towards leadership or technical expertise roles within Alstom.
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension).
  • You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
