Overview
Your role
As our newest Application Engineer, you will collaborate with our Sales team, Project Engineers, suppliers, and customers. You will play a key technical role in the early stages of the sales process for compressed air installations, product customizations, and complete engineered solutions. You will explore a wide range of product lines and technologies such as air compressors, accessories, dryers, gas generators, air receivers, and more technical support.
This position is based in Saint-Laurent and requires in-office presence 3 times per week. The standard weekly hours are 35 hours.
Main activities
- Support product sizing and selection for new and complex products or systems
- Assist the Sales team in evaluating the technical and commercial feasibility of tenders, and clarify customer inquiries and specifications
- Deliver high-quality quotations for locally purchased equipment, modifications, and engineered products
- Coordinate with purchasing and external partners to ensure the best and most economical offers
- Prepare drawings (2D and 3D) and technical datasheets during the sales phase
- Lead technical presentations and attend bid clarification meetings occasionally
- Contribute to improving the efficiency and quality of support to the sales team in collaboration with other application engineers
- Support the sales team in collecting technical information and installation data to prepare energy studies
- Conduct AIRScan studies focusing on airflow, power consumption, leakages, and air quality
- Prepare energy study reports based on data from air audits
- Create comparison studies highlighting efficiency benefits against competitors’ equipment
- Estimate potential grants from hydro companies based on new equipment purchases
- Follow up post-award to assist customers in obtaining grants
- Stay proactive regarding energy grant requirements nationwide
- Develop new value-added solutions for customers
Minimum requirements for success
- At least 5 years of experience in an engineering / technical commercial role
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in energy management and designing / sizing compressed air systems (asset)
- Knowledge of API / ISO standards and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and CRM tools
- Experience with AutoCAD Mechanical or Electrical and Inventor Professional
- Bilingual in English and French, written and spoken
- Strong communication and presentation skills
