Job summary

A local government organization in Ontario seeks an Information Technology Student who is currently enrolled in an IT-related course. The student will assist with computer workstation installation, provide helpdesk support, manage IT inventory, and help with user account administration. Ideal candidates should have knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office, alongside strong interpersonal and time management skills. This position lasts approximately 4 months, starting April 29, 2026, and pays $19.36 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution.
  • Valid province of Ontario Class 'G' license.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Job description
Position Description

This individual would be required to work in a team environment as well as independently. The incumbent will:

  • Assist with installation and support computer workstations and peripherals.
  • Assist in providing helpdesk related telephone support to I.T. related technical issues.
  • Inventory of all information technology hardware and software.
  • Assist in the administration of user accounts an email accounts.
  • Assist in the creation of information technology documentation.
  • Daily office administration, as required.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an Information Technology Related Course at a Community College or University.
  • Valid province of Ontario Class “G” license and access to a reliable vehicle including the ability to provide a drivers abstract when requested during the recruitment process.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Windows 7.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013, 2016.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network connectivity in LAN and WAN systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, accept and follow verbal and written instructions, complete duties to an acceptable level of quantity and quality with minimal supervision and follow all of Norfolk County Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to deal with the public courteously and effectively.
Note

Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term

At time of application must be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.
