What will you be doing
  • Developing a detailed understanding of client requirements by analyzing document collections, defining project scope, and creating effective remediation methodologies.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for client groups and operators, answering in-depth questions and reporting on progress and challenges.
  • Identifying required resources, procuring necessary supplies, and coordinating all remediation activities.
  • Conducting quality assurance, processing documents, and performing data entry into electronic filing systems.
  • Providing training and support to junior, new, and other departmental employees on records management and information systems; may supervise a small Records Management team.
  • Managing inventory levels and maintaining accurate spreadsheets and database updates.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for
  • Education & Experience
    • Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 12) with 5 years of related experience, OR
    • College diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Library, Information Management) and relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Supervisory skills and time management skills to assign tasks, schedule work and supervise junior Records Assistants to ensure accurate and timely delivery of requests.
    • Communication skills when dealing with staff, customers and suppliers, both written and verbal to provide training and guidance, clarification on requests and processes, and to write routine operating procedures.
    • Ability to make sound, just and confident recommendations and decisions.
    • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with external and internal customers, suppliers and staff.
    • In-depth knowledge of policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure document control and records management functions meet audits and regulatory requirements.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to write routine procedures and office manuals.
    • In-depth knowledge of the internal databases for troubleshooting errors and making recommendations to streamline affected document control processes.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions
  • Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
  • This position is part of the USW 4096 404 union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
  • May require levels of physical activity that vary in intensity, duration and frequency, which produce physical stress or fatigue

Location: Fully Remote

This position is offered on a fully remote basis, allowing you to work from home anywhere in Canada. You’ll collaborate virtually with a dynamic team across CNL sites, helping to advance Canada’s clean energy and environmental goals from your home office.

Please note: This is a remote position supporting the Chalk River Laboratory, Ontario.
