Infant Development Consultant — Date Posted: September 25, 2025 • Location: Penticton, BC

Join Our Team as an Infant Development Consultant at BGC Okanagan! Make a meaningful impact by supporting infants with, or at risk of, developmental delays or disabilities, and support their families, through home-based assessment, planning, and guidance that facilitates the infant’s development.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts interviews with clients and families to assess needs, outline available services, and make referrals to appropriate programs when necessary.
  • Helps families set developmental goals for their infants and creates support plans to achieve them.
  • Provides counseling and therapy sessions for families and infants, and guides parents in activities tailored to their infant’s needs.
  • Works with families to evaluate program effectiveness and client progress, resolving challenges and making adjustments to meet established objectives.
  • Provide parenting skills training. Guides parents in skills specific to the needs of the infant.
  • Records home visits and ensure that parents and professionals involved with the family are sent bi-annual reports regarding the infant’s progress.
  • Maintains accurate and complete reports and records on clients and provides monthly reports.
  • Discusses case planning and concerns with therapists and, social workers, etc.
  • Connects families with additional resources, including parent groups, therapists, and community organizations, and supports smooth transitions to other services.
  • Acts as a liaison with community agencies, providing education and advocacy on issues related to the program. May be involved in fund raising or public relations events.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to child development
  • Certificate in Infant Development and Supported Child Development
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with infants, young children, and their families
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate liability insurance
  • Successful completion of the agency screening process, including a criminal record check

This position is open to all applicants and requires union membership.

Hours: 12 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $38.68 per hour
