About the IBU Utilities

The Industry Business Unit (IBU) Utilities is a significant industry for SAP as it contributes significantly to cloud revenues representing an installed base of almost 5,500 customers in more than 123 countries serving billions of people across the world. The Industry Business Unit (IBU) provides deep industry expertise and defines and executes the global industry GTM plan to grow our business, supports market making customer deals and drives community engagement as well as global industry knowledge. The industries consist of many segments including power generation, energy and water distribution, retailing (Meter to Cash), different market roles like vertically integrated utilities, Transmission or Distribution companies, Retailers or Suppliers, Merchant Power Generation companies, as well as single commodity and multi-commodity utilities, municipal utilities, etc.

Your future role:

As a Industry Solution Expert for the energy supply chain of the future you are a key contributor to driving solution awareness, revenue, and adoption of the respective industry solutions as well as the Business Suite. You are accountable for positioning the SAP Enterprise Asset Management and Supply Chain Management portfolio, driving the GTM solution strategy for DER in the Americas, working with co-innovation customers, including the incubation of new AI scenarios and BDC data products in the respective solution portfolio in conversations with customers. In your role, you are a central point of contact for customers, the SAP partner ecosystem, and customer success teams towards product management and engineering to ensure future requirements are rolled in for the respective industry solution area.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Drive Solution Awareness and Adoption: Promote EAM and SCM as well as DER solutions, ensuring broad awareness and adoption. Roll‑In requirements for the relevant solution portfolio to drive solution readiness for current and future markets.
  • Positioning and Strategy: Lead the positioning of EAM and SCM in Utilities, including the development of the DER market offering and integration of new AI scenarios.
  • Customer and Ecosystem Engagement: Serve as the central point of contact for (C‑Suite customers), the SAP partner ecosystem, and customer success teams, ensuring alignment with product management and engineering.
  • Support and Drive revenue with the respective industry solution portfolio, SAP Business Suite, BDC and AI Roll‑in Requirements and GTM Content: Support the roll‑in of customer requirements, provide go‑to‑market content, and offer industry solution expertise in alignment with customer needs.
  • Ecosystem Enablement and Revenue Growth: Drive ecosystem enablement and awareness to increase future revenue streams and new business opportunities.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Community Engagement: Scale know‑how expertise and facilitate internal and external community engagement to enhance awareness, increase revenues, and drive adoption.
  • Event Participation and Strategic Deals: Actively participate in multi‑customer events and communities, build long‑lasting customer relationships and retention.
  • Executive Engagement: Engage with senior executive leadership at customer organizations to strengthen strategic partnerships.
Role Requirements
  • End to end understanding of the Energy Supply Chain and the respective main contributing segment (DSO) across the different market structures.
  • Deep understanding of the key SAP solutions relevant for DSO processes.
  • Good understanding of the key partner solutions augmenting the SAP solution portfolio for DSOs.
  • Professionalism and a positive attitude toward customers and colleagues.
  • Strong Team Lead as well as Team Worker skills.
  • Strong external recognition as Utilities Industry Expert.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task while providing highest quality.
  • Flexibility to adjust to quickly changing tasks and timelines.
Work Experience
  • 10 years’ experience in the Utilities Industry in Solution Management, Consulting, Presales, Business Development or related areas preferred.
  • Experience in understanding and validating market and customer requirements for solution roll‑in.
  • Excellent expertise of the full Energy Supply Chain and SAP Enterprise Asset Management capabilities required by the DSO.
  • Excellent communication skills for C‑Level customer engagement.
  • 10 years’ experience in one or several solution areas of ERP, SD, MM, QM, WM, CX, Utilities Industry solutions as well as innovations like Cloud, BTP and SAP HANA.

Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount, and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
