Overview

Industrial Electrical & Automation Supervisor

Location: Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada. Department: Maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures the application of health, safety and environment standards and practices.
  • Complies with HSE procedures, reports any incident or observation, performs inspections, and participates in the investigation process.
  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports by consistently applying the CBA and annual performance reviews.
  • Troubleshoots and minimizes the impact of failures on production processes by ensuring the correct diagnosis of the failure and the execution of the necessary interventions on equipment to maintain its availability and reliability.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the mill to foster employee engagement, communication and assess work process effectiveness within the team.
  • On production floor, technical hands-on support is expected to be 70% or more.
  • Implements preventive/corrective actions. Keeps risk analysis and environmental aspect assessment updated.
  • Acts as a shift leader, coordinating schedules, assigning responsibilities and ensuring safe work conditions during assigned time periods/shifts.
  • Verifies technical resource availability, ensuring a suitable minimum stock.
  • Manages and updates the maintenance information system and technical documentation, keeping records related to their area.
  • Supports Base Maintenance Supervisors in the execution of preventive tasks during production or scheduled interventions.
  • Supports Base Maintenance Supervisors in the execution of failure analyses.
  • Analyzes, interprets and recommends courses of action for more complex topics.
  • Interacts with internal and/or external contacts with a higher level of autonomy.
  • Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence to laws and regulations in the area of responsibility.
  • Proactively motivates, coaches, communicates with and develops staff and manages HR-related activities in line with HR norms and procedures. Protects facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to their area from damage, theft or misuse.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in industrial maintenance, trades work or hands-on engineering technician is an asset.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Electrical Trade (442a preferred), Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environment safety procedures.
  • Previous experience with PLC, VFD, sensors and High Frequency heating equipment considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with SAP considered an asset.
Scope of Machines & Equipment

Finishing: Electric Resistance Welding pipe manufacturing. Industrial online pipe cutting machine, threading machine for oil and gas pipes, hydro tester equipment for oil and gas pipes, online coupling buck on machine for oil and gas pipes, walking beam handling equipment, roll conveyor lines, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, grease lubrication systems, and oil hydraulic systems, pumps and valves (directional and proportional).

Schedule & Working Conditions
  • 12hr rotational shift, with flexibility based on business needs.
  • Work is performed in a steel manufacturing mill.
