We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Human Resources Business Partner to support the Morgan Stanley Montreal Global Center HR team. In this role, the individual will support managers and employees across multiple business lines within Canada.

In the Human Capital Management division, we provide advice and insight to attract, retain, reward and develop a talented global workforce, giving employees the support and tools they need to succeed. This is a Director level position within our HR Coverage team. This role is a unique opportunity to become part of a team of Human Resources professionals dedicated to providing client support for initiatives that impact the short- and long-term strategy for the Montreal Office and local Business Units. This individual will have exposure to all areas of HR as well as all levels of management within the business. The ability to interact remotely with clients, HR teams in all locations and handle high volumes of work will be critical for success in this role.

What you'll do in the role:
  • Ensure proper support in all steps of the employee life cycle from onboarding to termination
  • Provide support and smooth management of the global HR processes such as performance evaluation and compensation/promotion, fostering a two-way communication with management and functional HR Coverage colleagues
  • Manage employee relations issues, including partnering with Employee Relations and/or Employment Law
  • Advise clients on the resolution of employee relations and performance management issues, provide coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution
  • Partner with multiple HR functions such as Recruiting, Learning and Development, Diversity, Compensation, and Reporting, HR Operations and other Coverage teams on various initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate international transfers into and out of Canada
What you'll bring to the role:
  • At least 6 years of experience as a HR Generalist and a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law or equivalent.
  • A strong client focus with outstanding judgement, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Team-oriented with strong influencing skills and demonstrated ability or aptitude for team leadership
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and in French
  • The ability to deal with the uncertainties of an evolving, dynamic organization
  • Capability to manage difficult conversations and stressful situations
