Reports to: Sr. Human Resources Business Partner, Kingsville, ON

Based at: Hacienda North Farms, Wheatley, ON

Type of Employment: Full-Time, permanent, 5-days a week; and some additional hours which may include Saturdays, depending on workload and priorities.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) plays a crucial role in providing administrative support, maintaining efficient operations within the greenhouse facility, and assisting with various HR functions. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. The HRBP will be assigned to a business unit(s) within the Mucci Group of companies.

Business Unit Responsibilities
  • Become a trusted advisor to the greenhouse management teams on all people and culture matters
  • Act as the liaison between Greenhouse and corporate leaders/office
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with all levels of personnel and serve as a contact for employees in multiple business segments
  • Train and communicate policies within business unit
  • Support HR-related communications and announcements, both internally and externally
  • Administer WSIB and non-occupational case management, RTW, accommodation plans
  • Conduct investigations including harassment and conduct violations
  • Administer attendance management program and disciplinary action including Performance Improvement Plans
  • Review disciplinary action with departmental manager/supervisors prior to delivery
  • Participate in discipline and termination meetings
  • Implement training on Mucci Group policies and procedures
  • Conduct training needs analysis and identify gaps in technical skills and competencies
  • Develop training matrix for specific positions
  • Apply for training grants to offset costs and measure ROI of training and development initiatives
  • Participate in development plans for employees and conduct coaching sessions when applicable
  • Assist in maintaining online training portal (Provision), train department members and training participants on use of portal
  • Administer performance management system and probationary reviews
  • Participate in managing employee engagement initiatives such as employee surveys, employee incentive programs, social events
  • Preparation for customer and government audits
  • Administer the compensation system including processing of employee wage and status change forms
  • Assist with employee benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and inquiries
  • File workers compensation reports and follows up as necessary
  • Administer separation support, including preparing letters and packets
  • Assist in corporate reporting metrics including but not limited to headcount, turnover, and training records
  • Assist in identifying best practices in HR to facilitate growth and maintain a positive work culture
  • Support the onboarding process for new hires by assisting them with paperwork and training prior to and in their first days
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, benefits documentation, and attendance records, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Update and maintain employee data in the HRIS and other relevant systems
  • Optimize HR processes and HRIS system to ensure effective workflow and utilization of resources
  • Maybe asked to complete other duties based on skills and qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Completion of University/College diploma or certificate in Human Resources is strongly preferred
  • Bilingual fluency: English/Spanish is required
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in Human Resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation management, policy and procedure development and training
  • Knowledge of all HR related legislative requirements: Ministry of Labour, WSIB, Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety, etc.
  • Project management, systems implementation and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and reprioritize tasks daily
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite and ADP WorkforceNow or equivalent
  • Excellent documentation, communication, computer and time management skills
Physical Abilities
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
  • Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time
