Eagle Craft Special Projects, a division of EagleCraft Boats and part of the Bryton Marine Group, is seeking an HR Manager to lead the startup and execution of a three‑year marine construction project in Campbell River, BC. This is a high‑impact, career‑defining opportunity to help launch a new business unit within a respected marine industry leader.

Supported by the resources and expertise of the Bryton Marine Group, you will have the autonomy to design and implement HR systems from the ground up, recruit top trades and professional talent, oversee safety initiatives, and coordinate payroll, all while cultivating a high‑performance, collaborative culture. As a key member of the startup leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in building the foundation for operational excellence, compliance, and employee engagement throughout the life of this project.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders, contribute to strategic decision‑making, and help shape the future of Eagle Craft Special Projects as it delivers innovative vessels to the market.

Job Description
  • Customize and deploy HR policies: Adapt Bryton Marine Group’s established templates to fit the unique needs, culture, and operational requirements of EagleCraft Special Projects. Develop site‑specific policies for attendance, overtime, safety, code of conduct, and more.
  • Drive recruitment strategy for 60 skilled tradespeople and ~10 indirect roles.
  • Develop job descriptions and postings: Create tailored job descriptions and recruitment postings for all roles required for the project, ensuring alignment with project goals, regulatory standards, and local labor market realities.
  • Design onboarding programs: Establish onboarding processes that introduce new hires to the company’s culture, safety standards, operational procedures, and project objectives. Integrate Bryton’s best practices while customizing for the startup environment.
  • Set up compliance frameworks: Ensure all HR practices meet BC Employment Standards, WorkSafeBC requirements, and marine industry regulations. Implement systems for record‑keeping, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Implement performance management: Build processes for goal setting, feedback, performance reviews, and development plans, leveraging Bryton’s frameworks but adapting for the project’s pace and structure.
  • Establish compensation and benefits administration: Coordinate payroll and benefits enrollment, ensuring accurate data flow to EagleCraft’s systems while managing project‑specific needs (e.g., relocation, overtime, incentives).
  • Create employee relations and engagement programs: Develop communication channels, recognition programs, and conflict resolution processes to foster a positive, high‑performance culture.
  • Safety and training programs: Oversee the rollout of safety orientation, ongoing training, and compliance tracking, working closely with the Safety Specialist.
  • Lead a team of 3 direct reports (Recruiter/HR Specialist, Safety Specialist, Admin Assistant) and partner with third‑party recruiters.
  • Manage HR budget aligned with project plan.
