Position Summary

The Housing Support Worker supports and facilitates the daily activities of residents related to each individual’s recovery plan.

Qualifications
  • Education/Certification:
    • Post-secondary education related to health care or human services preferred
    • Current 1st Aide Certification required
  • Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
    • Ability to be flexible to meet different shift schedules as required
    • Ability to respond to immediate resident issues while maintaining work on long term goals
    • Ability to provide a functional assessment of observed behavior
    • Thorough knowledge of life skills and ability to teach same
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implements the residential recovery plan:
    • Assists residents to work toward clearly set goals and help make decisions based on the resident’s values (i.e. teaching and supporting the practice of activities of daily living)
  • Organizes and facilitates psycho-social education in individual and group settings:
    • Encouraging the practice of appropriate coping strategies
  • Organizes, facilitates and assists in the performance of routine household tasks:
    • Encourages participation of all residents in household routines
    • Facilitates skill acquisition as it relates to resident participation in carrying out household tasks
