Superior Facility Services is a family‑owned business providing environmental services to long‑term care and retirement homes for over 30 years. We are currently searching for a permanent Housekeeping Supervisor for one of our locations in Welland, Ontario – Royal Rose. This is a full‑time, day‑shift position (Monday to Friday) with occasional emergency coverage on other shifts, including holidays and weekends, as required by the facility. Candidates must currently reside in Ontario and be legally able to work in Canada.

This role is within a Long‑Term Care Facility; candidates must be able to work during a pandemic and be willing to adhere to all COVID precautions and immunization policies.

Candidate must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police check and a Two‑Step TB Test prior to starting.

Job details

Under the direction of the Regional Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible and accountable for managing an effective housekeeping department with the main focus on ensuring the delivery of quality service for the facility, residents, and staff. The supervisor is also responsible for performing housekeeping and laundry duties as part of their daily job routine.

Duties
  • Organizes and assists in managing all aspects of the housekeeping department within the facility
  • Participates in selection, evaluation, promotion and termination of environmental employees
  • Responsible for formulation and upkeep of department policies and procedures, goals, objectives, performance appraisals, etc.
  • Participates in the orientation process for residents, staff, volunteers, and students
  • Participates in local and provincial committees for the facility
  • Maintains records in accordance with the policies and procedures and government regulations for the facility
  • Performs basic hands‑on housekeeping and light maintenance duties associated with the facility’s operation
Qualifications
  • Experience as a professional housekeeper (2‑3 years)
  • Proven hands‑on housekeeping and/or laundry experience
  • Proven supervisory experience (1‑2 years)
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Working knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Patient and tactful
  • Ability to multi‑task
  • Organized and able to set priorities
  • Genuine interest in the care of the elderly
  • Ability to obtain a clear vulnerable‑sector criminal record check and TB test
  • Physical ability to complete all housekeeping and laundry tasks, including pushing, pulling, lifting, and standing for long periods
