Job summary

A regional health authority in Manitoba is looking for a Care Attendant to provide assistance to elderly and disabled individuals in a community setting. Applicants must have a Grade 12 education and a valid Class 5 driver's license. Candidates should have experience in home care and be proficient in both English and French. The role requires travel between facilities and a commitment to working independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Experience with the elderly or disabled in a community setting preferred.
  • Experience in a home care program is an asset.
  • Completions of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and other background checks are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for individuals in their homes.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a home care program is an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12 education required.
  • Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills.

  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
Physical Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
