Position Overview

This position is a perfect opportunity for recent or future teacher graduates to escape the TOC circuit.

As part of our High School faculty, you will be located at our new campus - just one block from Waterfront Station!

We are seeking an enthusiastic High School Social Studies Teacher, to teach and inspire our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in high school education, a genuine passion for teaching, and the ability to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans, assessing and evaluating student progress, fostering a positive classroom culture, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to ensure the holistic development of each student. Further, the successful candidate must be a team player and be flexible in their approach toward teaching and learning while serving as an integral part of our school culture.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications

The candidate for this position will possess the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3 Years of teaching experience teaching grades 8-12 (Preferred but not essential)
  • Experience of teaching ELL students preferred but not essential
  • Engage with the school’s professional development program and embrace the wider vision for the school’s growth
  • BC Teacher Certificate in good standing (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Capable of teaching all subjects of the elementary curriculum in accordance with the BC Ministry guidelines and the updated BC curriculum.
  • Excellent English written language and fluent oral communication skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively plan, prioritize, and deliver lessons and assessments.
  • Proven experience teaching elementary school students, preferably within a diverse classroom setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, address concerns, and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Attend and engage in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Stay up to date with current educational trends, research, and best practices to continuously improve teaching methodologies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and a love for learning.
  • Candidates with experience in English Language Arts are highly preferred.

Job Type: Full-time (FTE 1.0)

Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year. Salary will be commensurate with experience and class size.
