About Us
STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school in Calgary serving Grades 7–12. Our high school campus, located in Calgary's University Innovation Quarter, serves 915 students in Grades 10–12 and continues to grow as one of Alberta's most in‑demand STEM programs.
Our mission is to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders. At the high school level, we combine rigorous academic programming with authentic STEM experiences, leadership development, and post‑secondary pathways. - There is no tuition. Aside from standard instructional fees common to public schools, there is no cost to attend STEM IA.

Required Education and Experience
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
- Experience in teaching Alberta High School Sciences is preferred
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
- Exemplary, evidence‑based instructional practices in high school Sciences that lead to student success.
- Experience, confidence, skill, knowledge, and understanding of Alberta Program of Studies for multiple subjects within high school sciences.
- Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Commitment to academic rigor and excellence.
- Capacity to differentiate instructional practices, use effective student engagement strategies, and employ outcome‑based assessment and reporting.
- Collaboration with staff team and post‑secondary experts in developing common assessments and innovative learning experiences for students.
- Commitment to infusing technology into core curriculum where appropriate.
- Innovator's mindset – willingness to take risks and adapt to new challenges and interest in acquiring the skill sets required to teach various courses in Science and/or STEM option courses.
- Basic understanding of design & engineering, digital media technologies, and/or computational thinking is an asset.
- Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.
- Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Pasco Data Collection systems, Schoology, GradeCam, etc.
