Job Summary:

The Health & Safety Manager plays a key role in fostering a safe and supportive workplace environment at WCB, with a strong focus on both physical and psychological well-being. Working closely with internal safety leaders—including leadership, union representatives, and the Workplace Safety & Health Committee—this position champions continuous improvement in health and safety practices. Through collaboration, education, and proactive engagement, the Health & Safety Manager helps build a culture of safety that empowers employees, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes wellness across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • University Degree in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in occupational safety and health, including the development and delivery of safety and health initiatives or programs for clients, safety and health committees, representatives and employees
  • Completion of or working towards completion of the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Certification or the Canadian Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) Certification
  • Knowledge of WCB and Workplace Safety & Health, regulations, policy and practice
  • Advanced knowledge of occupational safety and health theory, strategies and industry-leading trends and practices
  • Ability to interpret and apply provisions of The Workplace Safety & Health Act & Regulations, Canada Labour Code Part II, and the Workers Compensation Act and Policies
  • Knowledge of investigative procedures and managerial techniques and principles
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and software in a Windows environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
