We provide safety support to clients in the industrial and construction sectors throughout Atlantic Canada, helping them meet and exceed the requirements of provincial and federal Occupational Health & Safety legislation.

The Role

We are seeking an Occupational Health & Safety Advisor to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Advisors are expected to manage their own schedules while aligning with client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay current on amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations; provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Conduct job site compliance inspections (hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports, and recommendations).
  • Monitor and evaluate client safety programs.
  • Research, plan, organize, and deliver presentations.
  • Support incident response: complete accident and injury reporting when requested.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate occupational safety programs and job procedures.
  • Provide expert advice on a broad range of occupational health & safety issues.
  • Conduct GAP analyses, audits, and evaluations of safety programs.
  • Identify non-compliant or missing components in client programs and recommend corrective action.
  • Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities.
  • Review and analyze accident / injury data to support program improvement.
  • Research emerging safety practices, equipment, and standards to recommend best-in-class solutions.
  • Mentor less experienced safety personnel.
  • Provide ongoing consultation and client follow-ups.
  • Support policy and procedure development, review, and training delivery.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Training

  • Formal Occupational Health & Safety training required.
  • Preference given to candidates with a CHSC designation.
  • Current certifications in the following considered assets: First Aid, Fall Protection, WHMIS, Scaffold, and Confined Space.

Experience

  • Previous work experience in a safety role within Construction, Manufacturing, or Food Processing sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of provincial and federal OH&S legislation and CSA Standards.

  • Jobsite inspections
  • Safety training facilitation

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Enthusiasm for new challenges and continuous improvement.

Other Requirements

  • Clean driver's abstract and reliable vehicle (travel required throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, work at heights, climb ladders, and wear a respirator.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel as required.
  • Professional appearance and conduct at all times.
