Hatchery Technician

Mowi Canada West is recruiting for two Hatchery Technicians to join our Freshwater team, with roles based at either Big Tree Creek Hatchery or Dalrymple Hatchery. This includes one permanent full-time position and one temporary full-time position, with an estimated duration of 18 months.

Applicants with aquaculture experience and/or relevant post secondary education will be given preference as we are a company that embraces constant learning and industry professionalism. The successful candidates will be safety oriented, self-motivated, highly organized and have a positive attitude. The ability to work with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures is paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Feeding and all other care required for fish from eggto smolt stages.
  • Accurate reporting, record keeping and document management.
  • Conducting daily water quality and equipment checks.
  • Monitoring fish behaviour, appearance and overall health.
  • Safely operate mobile and site equipment as authorized and upon completion of required training.
  • Cleaning, power-washing and sanitizing to maintain a pristine environment for our fish and our employees.
