A Day in the Life:

Bunge is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Grain Grader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately establish grades, weights and dockage on canola and soybean deliveries to Bunge Canada, Altona, according to the Regulations and Policies of the Canadian Grain Commission and Bunge Canada.

Grading is the most important aspect of this position because the grade assigned by the Grain Grader establishes price paid for the load of grain.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Accurately grade and perform a dockage assessment on all deliveries of bean and seed in a timely fashion.
  • Use vacuum probes to obtain representative samples of grain from trucks and inform the Material Handling Supervisor if maintenance is required on the probes.
  • Prepare samples for submission for third party grading and retain samples for grade and dockage.
  • Input data for truck deliveries into the One-Weigh software system in a timely fashion.
  • Check all grain handling equipment and report any deficiencies or concerns.
  • Complete rail billing on weekends and holidays prior to the rail company arriving at the plant to switch out our railcars in order to avoid delayed document and no-bill charges.
  • Complete the scale ticket information with the destination and load order number for the loaded meal hoppers, process the information in the SAP system, and order in and release railcars in the CN website.
  • Weigh trucks delivering chemicals to the plant and trucks
  • Prepare a composite sample of seed received daily and deliver the sample to the Lab for quality testing.
  • Provide vacation coverage when needed
  • Comply with all Bunge Canada Corporate and Altona policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum High School Diploma with 2-3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Able to complete training to grade grain samples according to the regulations and policies of the CGC, and pass testing used to determine their ability to accurately grade grain samples.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
