A municipal government agency in Ontario is seeking a GIS Student to assist with land use planning functions, including GIS support and research. Ideal candidates must be enrolled in a related field, possess a valid Ontario G2 Driver's License, and have computer skills. The position offers $19.36 per hour for approximately 35 hours a week, starting from April 2026. This contract lasts about four months, requiring candidates to work weekends and to submit necessary documentation prior to commencing employment.
Reporting to the Supervisor, GIS or designate, the incumbent will be expected to carry out a variety of tasks relating to various aspects of municipal land use planning functions, such as:
Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term.
At time of application must be enrolled in a post‑secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.
Applicants must submit a criminal record check (dated within the last 3 months) from their local police service for approval prior to commencing employment.
Interviews will be held in the month of February 2026.
The duration of this contract will be approximately 4 months. Applicants are expected to fulfill the entire contract period commencing April 29, 2026, until August 28, 2026.
