Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated GCP Data Analyst – BigQuery to join our growing analytics and cloud data practice in Canada. This role is ideal for a data professional who thrives in a cloud-first environment and is passionate about transforming complex datasets into actionable business insights.

As a GCP Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a strong focus on BigQuery. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable analytics solutions using Google BigQuery

  • Write, optimize, and manage complex SQL queries for large-scale datasets

  • Perform data analysis, validation, and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency

  • Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Looker, Data Studio, Tableau, or Power BI)

  • Collaborate with data engineers to support data ingestion, transformation, and modeling pipelines

  • Translate business requirements into technical data solutions and insights

  • Monitor performance and cost optimization of BigQuery workloads

  • Support ad-hoc analysis and strategic initiatives with actionable insights

  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards

  • Document data models, processes, and best practices

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in Google BigQuery and advanced SQL

  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services

  • Experience working with large, complex, and structured/unstructured datasets

  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT processes

  • Experience with BI and data visualization tools

  • Understanding of cloud security, access controls, and data governance principles

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field

  • 3–6 years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence roles

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with BigQuery and GCP

  • Experience in consulting, enterprise, or multi-industry environments is a strong advantage

  • GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer or Data Analyst) are a plus
