Role Overview:

The Group Benefit Solutions Underwriting Organization partners with Sales, Client Management, Pricing, Risk Management, and other business partners to evaluate and manage risk. We analyze employer group characteristics and plan designs to determine appropriate rates across our suite of group insurance products.

This position offers a unique opportunity to join the Underwriting organization's Voluntary Benefits team, which recently launched new Accident Insurance, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity Products.

What You'll Do:
  • Evaluate and interpret data from various sources to develop risk assessments of employer groups.
  • Consult with sales reps and brokers to explain analyses and collaborate on balancing risk and profit.
  • Participate in projects beyond quoting, such as serving as a technical expert, improving processes, or mentoring underwriters.
  • Underwrite new business opportunities for Accident Insurance, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity products.
  • Perform case-specific risk assessments to develop appropriate premiums.
  • Recommend strategies and plan designs to secure new business, collaborating with sales and enrollment teams.
  • Manage a growing book of business focusing on profitable growth, persistency, and earnings.
  • Partner with sales and brokers to deliver presentations and act as a financial consultant.
  • Develop strategic recommendations related to market, products, and pricing.
  • Influence underwriting practices and contribute to product development and pricing discussions.
  • Represent Underwriting on projects and initiatives.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business subject or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of Group Underwriting or relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Innovative, self-motivated, and adaptable to change.
  • Financial acumen and risk analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead discussions and manage stakeholder relationships.
Locations:

Hybrid Schedule: Philadelphia PA, Kansas City MO, Chattanooga TN, Farmington CT, Phoenix AZ, Fully Remote considered.

Pay Transparency

Salary range: $62,000 - $116,500

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No

Base salary will depend on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. Employees may also participate in incentive programs.
