Overview

We are hiring for a part-time Front Desk Clerk at the Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Center. The successful candidate will be able to serve our guests in a very professional yet personable manner. You must be willing to work evenings/weekends and holidays as this is a hotel where 24 hour service is provided to our guests.

Responsibilities
  • Apply basic math skills for calculating invoices and other business documents
  • Prepare guest folios - checking for accuracy in postings to each folio. Standard check in and out procedures.
  • Provide all guests with courteous, professional service during check-in, check-out, telephone inquiries, and all other contact with guests.
  • Take reservations and up selling as well as OTA correspondence.
  • Answer the switchboard and direct calls in a proficient, courteous manner.
  • Manage and resolve all guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Communicate all guest, staff and hotel related matters to management.
  • Provide and maintain customers\' privacy.
  • Requirement to maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
Qualifications
  • Strong customer service background
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Must be trained in and be comfortable with computer systems. Knowledge of Maestro an asset. Capable of working with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Previous Hotel Front Desk experience preferred and an asset
  • Knowledge of the location area (restaurants and tourist attractions)
  • Strong mult-tasking skills in order to handle a number of tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to think independently and make sound judgment calls, as well as handle guest inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Must be a team player.
