Overview

Food Services Attendant. This auxiliary position is with the Food Services division of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. The role involves varied concession and catering duties at multiple Burnaby locations, such as Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Burnaby Village Museum, Edmonds Café, Bill Copeland Sports Centre and Swangard Stadium.

Responsibilities
  • Operate Point of Sale cash registers and handle cash, including preparing float and deposits.
  • Prepare food and beverages, including specialty coffee drinks; serve alcohol where applicable.
  • Maintain daily cleanliness of food preparation areas and equipment.
  • Provide high-quality customer service in a high-volume environment and interact with the public, catering clients, City staff, and community groups.
  • Perform related duties as required and support team operations.
Qualifications
  • Up to high school graduation plus some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of equipment related to the work; sound knowledge of health regulations and laws applicable to the role.
  • Ability to perform simple clerical duties such as inventory, cash handling and balancing to sales.
  • Catering experience is an asset; valid Serving it Right and Food Safe certificates are an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends; availability for morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts.
