The Food Services Supervisor is a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives through strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.
As a Food Services Supervisor, your typical day will include:
- Consulting and collaborating with the home’s Dietitian on operational and clinical issues.
- Supervising food and drink production, including purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and implementing production sheets.
- Assisting in ensuring the Dietary Department complies with provincial long-term care legislation and other relevant laws, such as Occupational Health and Safety, Ontario Labour Act, Union agreements, Human Rights Code, and Public Health regulations.
- Ensuring adherence to the recommended menu package.
- Approving invoices and submitting them to Support Services according to policies.
- Supervising all aspects of food production and meal service.
- Conducting daily kitchen and serveries inspections to identify and resolve issues.
- Performing regular meal service rounds in all dining areas.
- Maintaining temperature records for meals, refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Must haves:
- Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (student memberships not accepted).
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Society of Nutrition Management.
- At least 1 year of experience in large-scale food preparation, financial planning, and purchasing.
- Supervisory experience in a unionized environment or long-term care setting.
- Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulation, Public Health regulations, Food Safety Code, Canada's Food Guide, ORCA, Long Term Care Homes Act, and OH&S Act.
- Understanding of dietary and nutritional needs and menu planning for the elderly, including special diets.
- Computer skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Records Checks (Ontario and BC applicants respectively).
Bonus points for:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the long-term care home sector.
- Knowledge of Point Click Care and Synergy Program.
