Overview

Your Opportunity: The town of Cardston is just 30 minutes from Waterton Park. As a Food Service Worker you will contribute to patient and resident‑focused health care as part of the Nutrition Food Service (NFS) team, which provides nutritious, high‑quality meals to patients, residents, staff, visitors and the community. Under the supervision of a Food Services Supervisor, you will use customer service, teamwork and organizational skills to prepare, handle, portion and package food and beverages; assemble trays; deliver meals to patients; operate and clean industrial food service equipment; follow safety, sanitation and food preparation standards in line with AHS policies; and perform other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively in English, work as part of a professional team and demonstrate a patient‑first approach.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, handle, portion and package food and beverages
  • Assemble trays in the kitchen; provide patient meal delivery and pick up
  • Safely operate and clean industrial food service equipment
  • Adhere to safety, sanitation and food preparation standards per AHS guidelines
  • Perform other food service duties as assigned
Responsibilities

As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Qualifications

Additional Required Qualifications: Read/Write/Speak/Understand English.

Preferred Qualifications: Customer service experience; food service experience; hospital or long‑term care environment experience; inventory management experience (receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates, FIFO); experience with industrial food service equipment; Food Safe Certificate or equivalent; WHMIS training.
