Position Overview: The Focus Shop Manager, Heavy Components will oversee the daily operations of the Heavy Components Focus Shop. The role drives performance in safety, quality, cost, and schedule while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Components Operations Director, the manager leads a team of supervisors and skilled trades in a unionized environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery Performance: Lead on-time delivery of complex, high‑quality components; manage production plans and manpower.
  • Production Method & Cost Review: Optimize resource planning and problem‑solving; maintain cost‑center budgets.
  • Company & Customer Standards: Champion safety and quality culture; partner with Quality Assurance for corrective actions.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe shop environment; support annual safety goals through coaching of supervisors.
  • Union Administration: Build positive relationships with union executives; coordinate collective‑agreement matters.
  • Employee Management: Coach and develop supervisors; conduct performance reviews and staffing recommendations.
Required Qualifications
  • College diploma or trades certificate in a related field.
  • 10+ years in a manufacturing environment, including 5+ years in heavy shop processes (welding, fabrication, etc.).
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams in a unionized setting.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Understanding of EHS legislation (OSHA), Employment Standards Act, and collective agreements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
