Position Description

Job Purpose
This position provides services similar to the Investment Specialist but typically serves clients with more complex financial planning needs. It has a primary focus on high-value clients and requires an insurance license.

Key Areas of Accountability
  • Registered to sell mutual funds, CFP designation holder, and possibly insurance licensed
  • Proactively develops and manages a portfolio of high-value member relationships; assesses and anticipates individual member needs to maximize member relationships; develops a contact management plan; conducts regular portfolio reviews with members
  • Conducts interviews with members to clarify financial goals and objectives in the short and long term. Completes comprehensive financial analyses to develop investment strategies and provides financial plans and advice on wealth management, insurance, tax planning, investment, retirement, and estate planning
  • Engages in proactive sales and business development activities including follow-up, direct marketing, and professional contact with prospects; maintains partnerships with other credit union areas; liaises with branches, insurance services, and investment product suppliers
  • Provides coaching and guidance to junior investment staff
  • Develops new business through seminars, demographic studies, and surveys
Qualifications
  • Certified Financial Planner Designation
  • Registered to sell mutual funds and Life Insurance License an asset
  • 3-5 years of experience or equivalent education and experience
