Overview
Job title: financial auditor
Education: Bachelor\'s degree. Work setting: Auditing firm or department; Government department and/or agency. Work must be completed both in person and remotely.
Responsibilities
- Supervise staff
- Analyze clients\' financial records
- Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal control
- Recommend improvements to accounting systems and management practices
- Conduct field audits of businesses to ensure compliance with provisions of the Income Tax Act, the Canadian Business Corporations Act or other statutory requirements
- Review and examine financial services and institutions to ensure compliance with governing legislation and regulation
- Analyze financial documents and reports
- Examine accounting records
- Assist in the planning and execution of financial statement audits
- Variance analysis
- Audit accounting records to determine income, exemptions, payable taxes, compliance with reporting regulations and existence of fraud
